During a lunch break this week I took a look at one of my favorite news sites, the Weird News section of MSNBC and I found a story that was disturbing on so many levels. It seems a 76 year old woman told her doctor that she remembered “accidentally” swallowing a marker 25 years ago.
Apparently she was standing on the stairs holding a small mirror in one hand while using an uncapped felt pen to poke a spot on her tonsils with the other hand. I understand the use of the mirror, I mean if I were going to graffiti the back of my throat I’d want to see how it looks as well. But seriously, are the stairs really the best place for this activity?
Apparently not, since the woman lost her balance and fell down the stairs. What happened to her Sharpie? “It slid down her gullet,” so the doctor recommended they remove the pen from her stomach. The pen was flaky, and corroded, but apparently it still worked. Why did they bother testing it?
