Welcome Message

Like most people, I have moments where I look around and find that I am completely surrounded by idiots. On other occasions, I look around and realize that I'm the idiot. In this blog I will share these experiences along with other stories I find entertaining.

Strange Office Politics

I was talking to a friend that works for the federal government who told me that a fellow employee is a big supporter of President Barak Obama.  Apparently this woman had done some local volunteer work for the President’s campaign.
During the same time period, the budget fight in congress was so contentious that the federal office where my friend works risked being affected by a Government shutdown, so the employees were anxious to learn whether or not they faced temporary unemployment.
I should point out that this woman lives in Massachusetts.  A state that notoriously sides with the Democratic party.  Out of all the people working on a candidate’s campaign, a part-time volunteer,in a state that the candidate is virtually guaranteed to win, is the least likely to get noticed by the candidate himself.
One day the woman came to my friend with a big smile on her face.  She had just received the generic appreciation letter that all political campaigns use thanking her for her efforts and she was convinced the President had personally written her.  She even told my friend not to worry about news of a shutdown since “I’ll probably hear about the shutdown before our supervisor, because Obama will email me.  I’ll call you as soon as I have some news."
